THIS IS OFFICIAL, I will indeed be entering Guitar Center's King of Blues competition. If you're a guitar player from Newgrounds (and live in the U.S.), enter too at your nearest Guitar Center. (Except if you're from Ohio and live close to Columbus, then I'd have to kick your ass).

I'm not expecting to win, just expecting to have a good time and at least see where I go and how I do. If any other guitar players from here enter, please inform me. Also if you do enter, make a video of your performance for youtube. I'd really like to see more people from this site enter. It'd be awesome if one of us actually made it far.

I just realized I've been apart of NG for a year now and damn a lot has definitely changed. I mean I look back on the music that I was originally going to write for the audio portal and just wow. All I can say is in a year I've improved so much, my song writing, my mixing/mastering skills, and my guitar playing. I'm just so happy with it.

As of now I've got several songs in the work, one that's going to be a huge fucking epic (we're talking the possibility of 20 minutes!). Most of them have song titles except 1 and that hasn't been worked on in awhile. Along with my own compositions I've also learned several songs: Creeping Death, Highway Star, Mr. Crowley, Toxicity, Paranoid, and La Grange.

Overall I'm happy with the improvements and strides I've made the past year and I hope to continue improving.

Well that's the update from me, will post again when more happens.

Also still looking for an artist to do the drawing. See my last post for more info, if you need an idea as to what I'm looking for I'll link you with a few pictures.

I have three songs I am now working on, along with riffs for the metal collab. Lot's of work ahead of me. All songs, are songs that I've already used the title for, but I'm deciding to try my hand at melodic death metal (more The Black Dahlia Murder style as opposed to Swedish). The titles are Twilight Symphony of the Dead (ignore the demo I have on here from now on), A Withered Rose, and In the Lair of Nosferatu.

I should hopefully have the first one done sometime soon.

Well I just had my first day of work yesterday, 7 hours of pushing carts. Pretty f***ing tired.

Though I just got through listening to Dream Theater's new album Black Clouds and Silver Linings. It was kind of a mix of good and bad (not so much as in bad songs, but more so of bad choices with certain progressions), the only real strong songs were probably Count of Tuscany and The Shattered Fortress.

Overall out of a letter based scale, I'd probably say it was a B-. It really didn't have the foundations and most of what I was expecting, but enough of it was good quality to give it B- (basically it was better than Falling into Infinity).

I officially have a job now and will be working soon, orientation is Saturday at 8 AM.

This means I can finally buy some recording equipment and start doing more guitar based songs.

I am going to be starting work on my next song tomorrow. Though no actual work will be done.

Instead I will be listening to music that will be the main influence for the song.

Here's the list (note these are the main songs/composers that will have the strong influence).

1.This is Halloween-Danny Elfman
2.Toccata and Fugue in D minor- Johann Sebastian Bach
3.In the Presence of Enemies (Pt.1 and Pt.2)-Dream Theater
4.Entrance of the Gladiators-Julius Fucik
5.Nocturnal-The Black Dahlia Murder
6.Third Eye-Tool
7.Dancers to a Discordant System-Meshuggah
8.Moonlight Sonata-Beethoven
9.Nosferatu Does a Hefty Dance-Pinkly Smooth
10.A Little Piece of Heaven-Avenged Sevenfold
11.DnB (Any in particular)
12.Any Prokofiev
13.Any Stravinsky
14.Call of Ktulu-Metallica
15.A certain NGs Artist
16.Porcelain Heart-Opeth

Also there will be an assortment of styles that I will study before I start (particularly Waltz, Circus Music, and Organ Fugues).

I finally got down to it and wrote a new song its called "Cthulhu In Your Dreams". Its my first try at Drum and Bass and my first try in the Electronica genre. Personally I think it came out well, but I'd like to get some reviews on what areas I could improve in in future songs.

Also here's the link to the song

Hope you all enjoy.

I have one at 2:30PM tomorrow with Wal-Mart. Hopefully I get the job, seeing as how bad ass I am. Also this means I can afford new equipment to record with, so hopefully I'll be able to get some tracks up by next month if I can put together the money.

Currently though, I'm looking at getting a Presonus USB Audiobox, a Shure sm57 dynamic microphone, and some studio headphones probably Audio Technica.

Other items included will be mic stand with boom and mic cables.

That's right I updated my profile, it now reveals my actual birth date and age.

There's the slight update. Now here's my question, if you're a guitarist or someone records live (that's with a mic). What kind of microphone do you recommend dynamic (like a Shure sm57) or should I buy a condenser microphone. Also, what are some decently priced studio headphones (my old ones broke on me, so I need some new ones).

List of Equipment

Line 6 Spider 120
Epiphone Les Paul
Ibanez IJX40
Boss DS-1
Boss NS-2
