Currently listening to "A Rite of Passage" by Dream Theater from their upcoming album Black Clouds and Silver linings. Its pretty sweet, a little more straight forward for them, but still a rocking song. Definitely sounds similar to their earlier stuff mixed with Metropolis Pt. 2. The solo section feels a lot like that of Constant Motion (Petrucci's solo felt like a mix between his one in "Home" and in "Constant Motion"). Also Labrie's voice sounds like its improved a little more, like its returning to its former state before the food poisoning.

Definitely a good choice to release early to give out to the fans. I'm definitely expecting big things from this album. In particular a long instrumental somewhere, though not quite sure if there will be one.

Btw those who are probably wondering who wrote the lyrics to the song, it was definitely Petrucci judging by the style and format.

Recently my mind has been sparked with creative thoughts. My current song is kind of a flashback to a similar sound that Pink Floyd had on their Meddle album (most similar to their song Echoes).

Besides that I've began experimenting with feedback, different sound effects.

In fact my boss DS-1 has all its setting set all the way to the right so I can creat instant feedback (and cut off that feed back at will).

As of now I have around three riffs thought up and ones in the production, the others are being experimented with.

For anyone who might be interested, I am currently working on my first song. The development process is coming along nicely. And when its done I hope you all who will end up listening to it and enjoying it. The song as of now is scheduled to be titled The Pied Piper and will hopefully be finished in two weeks. I also hope it will be a good example of whats to come.
