So as of recent I've been listening to latest Periphery album. I can't just get over at how perfectly constructed and produced this album is. It's a massive step up from 'Periphery'. While Periphery was filled with great rhythmic lines and awesome experimentation with electronic sounds, it missed out on being able to fuse it altogether so that it would flow. Well on 'Periphery II: This Time It's Personal' the band not only stepped up their writing skills, they also stepped up the production. The guitar clarity is better, the flow between songs is almost seamless, Spencer's vocals are more improved and he seems to have a more control with his voice. While on Periphery the balance and flow between the heavy and electronic seemed a bit sporadic, on Periphery II it flows perfectly. Also, almost every song has a line or part in which is memorable and gets stuck in your head. And the vocal melodies are extremely well constructed, so well you can feel a very nice smooth transition and Spencer's voice easily helping to establish the emotion of each song. Especially when he sings in more softer and sombre tone and his voice feels as smooth as honey.
Overall this album is by far the most complete album I've heard in 5 years. And I'm quite impressed and extremely eager to see the next product of this band.
